Big Black, star of MTV’s Rob & Big, dies at 45

Do you remember the last show you actively watched on MTV?

I do, and it wasn’t Room Raiders or any of that trash. It was Rob & Big, a show that followed skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and his bodyguard, Christopher “Big Black” Boykin. As a child, I binge-watched episodes during marathons on weekends and even remember how sad I was when it came time for “Big Black” to leave the series.

According to PEOPLE Magazine, one of Boykin’s representatives told the magazine that the 45-year-old former bodyguard has died due to a heart attack.

Now, this isn’t something I expected to write on a hip-hop blog, but who can forget their rapping on Rob & Big?

This was just one of the many moments where the audience continued to fall in love with Rob and Big’s dynamic. It’s a shame to hear that a father and young 45-year-old in Boykin is gone, but I believe his lasting impression on many will linger for years to come, especially 90s babies.
